Professor Dr. Samra M Khan has worked as a professional architect since 1987 and as an academic since 2005. She was the founding director of the National College of Arts, Rawalpindi and worked at COMSATS University Islamabad as Professor and Dean of Faculty. Her portfolio of work includes various international and national projects in Pakistan and the UK. Dr. Khan has published multiple research papers and books chapters and presented conference papers nationally and internationally. She has planned and hosted national and international lectures, seminars and conferences. Her areas of research include environmental sustainability, conservation of cultural heritage, regeneration of traditional cities, conserving tangible and intangible heritage, studies of traditional build environments, heritage and cultural identity and colonial architecture among others.

Dr. Khan has served at multiple professional bodies and institutions including the Institute of Architects, Pakistan (IAP) currently as the Vice President IAP (2022-2025), as member of Executive Committee of the Pakistan Council of Architects & Town Planners (PCATP) (2019-2021 and 2021-2023), honorary secretary of INTBAU Pakistan, Chair of Sustainability of EAROPH Pakistan and member of British Association of South Asian Studies. She has served as member of the Academic Council, Syndicate and various committee at COMSATS University. She has served as a director on the board of NCPC Foundation (National Cleaner Production Center Foundation) since 2021. The focus of her work at these institutions has been to improve the professional and academic performance of the profession. Dr. Khan has represented IAP (at ACAE) at ARCASIA, Bali and ACPP at Jaipur, India. She has developed multiple liaisons with Universities in the UK, Turkey, Japan and China for curriculum improvement and heritage conservation and regeneration.
